CMA Summer Camps 2014
Note:  Registration for all camps require a minimum of 10 participants with the exception of FUN FRIDAY which requires a minimum of 8.  If minimum is not met, camp will be canceled by 5 pm on date of registration deadline. Parents/Guardians will be notified the day following the deadline if camp is canceled. Full payment due first day of camp.

Ham Camp
June 2 - 6
10 - 18  years
9 am- 12 pm
Price:  $125 non-members/$115 members
  Do you want to be a hero and help keep your community connected during a disaster? Take the first steps toward learning what you need to know to earn your entry level FCC Amateur Radio License, supported by the Acadiana Amateur Radio Association, Pugh Family Foundation and the CMA. Some of the activities at Ham Camp include learning to operate an amateur radio, learning radio communication skills and call sign collection through relays and contests. Campers will even be able to build their own AM radio!

Beginners Camp 5 - 8 years:

Calling all future Engineers...The CMA's Campstruction is here to allow your child's creative mind to run free. Beginners will create shoe box catapults, robots and a room size Rube Goldberg. Campstruction Intermediate will allow your child's creativity to fly sky high. Intermediate campers will create contraptions that "go"   from submarines to model rockets.  At the end of camp campers will showcase their innovative creations for all to see!

Busy day and errands to run? While you are out and about, kids will be able to create works of art and play! All kids will be under the supervision of an instructor and camp counselors.

Jewelry Camp
June 23 - 27
Beginners Camp (5 - 8 years):

Do you have a fashion designer in the works at your house? Yes!  Then Jewelry Camp  is the place to be.  Camp kids will learn the different types of design and construction of jewelry under the supervision of the CMA's Creative Director Jo Ellen Breakfield. Campers will design and make a collection of Jewelry. Beginner's projects include: Flower Power barrettes, Shrinky Dink charms, and Clay Trade beads.  Immediate projects include: Braided Bangle bracelets, Stamped Copper charms, and Clay Trade beads. At the end of camp, campers will display their designs during the CMA FashionWalk - just like a true designer.

Mural Painting Camp
July 7 - 11
6 - 10  years: 9 am- 12 pm
Price: $125 non-members/$115 members
Allow your kids to put their mark on downtown at the CMA's Mural Painting Camp! Campers will have fun while learning the elements and principles of design and the different types of murals that can be created for inside and outside. Kids will create individual pieces and work as a group to create  to create a mural that will hang at the CMA during August Artwalkk for all to see!

Comic Camp

Hey Comic book fans! Sign up for the CMA's Spectacular Comic Book camp. Participants will get a comprehensive look into the world of comic book making from some of the most talented comic writers and artists in Lafayette. Workshop participants will develop skills in character development and design, story development, creating letters for speech bubbles and paneling layouts.
